On April 6, 2022, Pennsylvania Senators Judith Schwank and Sharif Street announced their plan to introduce legislation banning the sale of delta-8 THC in the state. Pennsylvania is one of several states that allows the sale of medical marijuana, but opponents of delta-8 THC argue that this strain poses a serious risk, especially to children and adolescents. Schwank noted that delta-8 “is sold in a way and marketed in a way to appeal to kids with flavors like lemon haze, blue Skittles, and strawberry shortcake… [W]e are talking about legalizing [recreational] marijuana in Pennsylvania, but this is a separate issue.” Many states have already banned or restricted the sale of delta-8 THC or are considering similar bans on delta-8 products.

House Bill 1024, signed by Governor Wolf, tweaks Pennsylvania's medical marijuana law to "put medical marijuana more in line with pharmaceuticals in a pharmacy". It approves of curbside pick-up of marijuana prescriptions, increases the maximum supply to be obtained at one time, and expands who can fill orders for a patient.
